What is Natural Horsemanship Training ?

Lisa Calder Natural Horsemanship training
The Baca Barb horses at Blue Oaks Center are trained using Natural Horsemanship standards under the
direction of Lisa Calder, Mindful Horsemanship.
Natural Horsemanship is based on understanding the nature of horses and communicating with them in
ways they understand. This leads to a safer and more enjoyable experience. Instead of using
force, intimidation or gimmicks to control the horse, body language and intuition is used. Natural
horsemanship starts by interacting with the horse from the ground, gaining its trust and respect. Once
this relationship is established then riding becomes a safer and more enjoyable experience for both horse and human.
